In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.
 
The alerts from EU generated during 7th - 13th July 2020 are as under:

Alert: Germany has withdrawn Indian origin Leather jacket from market due to chromium VI (measured value up to: 12.71 mg/kg).

 

The leather in the product contains chromium VI (measured value up to: 12.71 mg/kg). Chromium (VI) is sensitising, can trigger allergic reactions and can cause cancer. The product does not comply with REACH Regulation.
 
Measures taken by economic operators: Recall of the product from end users. Withdrawal of the product from the market (By: Importer)
 
Description: Mustard- yellow leather jacket with metal zip fastenings, silver-coloured buckle and eyelets, multi-coloured lining. The leather jacket is made of sheep skin leather.

Alert: Heena Powder originated from India containing excessive level of aerobic mesophilic bacteria (measured values up to 230 000 cfu/g) and yeast and mould (measured values up to 66 000 cfu/g)
 
Ireland withdrawal of Heena Powder from the Market as detected an excessive level of aerobic mesophilic bacteria. The Heena Powder contains an excessive level of aerobic mesophilic bacteria (measured values up to 230 000 cfu/g) and yeast and mould (measured values up to 66 000 cfu/g).
 
If used on damaged skin, or if it comes into contact with the eyes, the product may cause infection or irritation.The product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
