Advisory for Indian products in EU: 9 - 15 February 2021

In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.
The alerts from EU generated during 9 - 15 February 2021 are as under:
1. Alert: Cadmium (2.7 mg/kg - ppm) in frozen squid (Loligo duvauceli) from India, via Spain
- Notification from: Switzerland
- Risk: Serious
- Notification type: Food - alert - official control on the market
- Action Taken: Withdrawal from the market
- Date: 15-02-2021
2. Alert: Salmonella enterica ser. Virchow (in 1 out of 5 samples /25g) in dog chews (dried tripes) from India
- Notification from: Germany
- Risk: Serious
- Notification type: Feed - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
- Action Taken: Import not authorised
- Date: 12-02-2021
3. Alert: Unauthorised substance ethylene oxide (3.0 mg/kg - ppm) in organic hulled and (0.22, 18.7, 0.22 mg/kg - ppm) in hulled sesame seeds from India.
- Notification from: Austria, Netherlands, Czech Republic
- Risk: Serious
- Notification type: Food - alert - company's own check
4. Alert: Possible contamination with ethylene oxide in sesame seeds from India used in breadsticks from Italy
- Notification from: Romania
- Risk: Serious
- Notification type: Food - alert - company's own check
- Action Taken: Withdrawal from the market
- Date: 10-02-2021
5. Alert: Unauthorised novel food ingredient moth bean (Vigna aconitifolia) in various products from India
- Notification from: Portugal
- Risk: Undecided
- Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
- Action Taken: Destruction
- Date: 09-02-2021
