In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.

The alerts from EU generated during 29 September - 4 October 2021 are as under:

1. Alert: Ethylene oxide found in Isabgol seeds from India

Notification from: Spain
Risk: Serious
Notification type: Food - Border rejection notification- Border control - consignment detained
Action Taken: Destruction
Date: 04-10-2021

2. Alert: Aflatoxin found in Peanuts from India

Notification from: Netherlands
Risk: Serious
Notification type: Food - Border rejection notification - Border control - consignment detained
Action Taken: Official detention
Date: 04-10-2021

3. Alert: Salmonella spp. found in organic Ashwagandha powder from India

Notification from: Slovenia
Risk: Serious
Notification type: Food - Alert notification - Official control on the market
Action Taken: Withdrawal from the market
Date: 30-09-2021

4. Alert: Unauthorised substance ethylene oxide found in organic bamboo extract from India, via France, used in food supplements manufactured in Belgium

Notification from: Germany
Risk: Serious
Notification type: Food - Alert notification - Company's own check
Action Taken: Withdrawal from the market
Date: 30-09-2021
