In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.
 
The alerts from EU generated during 26th November – 2nd December 2019 are as under:

Alert: Indian hair dye containing excess p-aminophenol recalled from end consumer by Slovenia
Indian Hair dye contains too much p-aminophenol (measured value: 1.7% by weight).

Uncoupled p-aminopohenol is a strong skin sensitiser and may trigger allergic skin reactions. The product does not comply with the Cosmetics Regulation and recalled from customer.

  • Action Taken: Recall of the product from end users
  • Week: 2019 – 48

Alert: Indian leather work gloves containing chromium VI withdraw from the Luxemburg market
Indian leather work gloves contain chromium VI (measured value up to: 14 mg/kg).

Chromium (VI) is sensitising and can trigger allergic reactions. The product does not comply with the Personal Protective Equipment and REACH Regulations.

  • Notification from: Luxembourg
  • Measures taken by economic operators: This Jonsered glove model will be replaced by a new glove model. (By: Manufacturer)
  • Measures ordered by public authorities (to: Retailer): Ban on the marketing of the product and any accompanying measures, Withdrawal of the product from the market
  • Week: 2019 – 48

Alert: Unauthorised substance carbofuran (0.03 mg/kg - ppm) in green chillies from India
  • Notification from: United Kingdom
  • Risk: Undecided
  • Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
  • Action Taken: Import not authorised
  • Date: 02-12-2019

Alert: Unauthorised novel food (Adhatoda vasica, Asparagus racemosus, Emblica officinalis and Terminalia chebula) and ingredient (Tribulus terrestris) in organic vegan jam mixture (chyawanprash) from India
  • Notification from: Greece
  • Risk: Undecided
  • Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
  • Action Taken: Official Detention
  • Date: 26-11-2019
