In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.
 
The alerts from EU generated during 24 - 30 November 2020 are as under:
 
1. Alert: Unauthorised substance ethylene oxide (3.8 mg/kg - ppm) in heat treated sesame seed from India, (1.1 mg/kg - ppm) in sesame seeds hulled toasted from India, (18.1, 24.31, mg/kg - ppm) in sesame seeds from India, (> 5.0 mg/kg - ppm) in hulled organic sesame seeds from India, via the Netherlands, (35 mg/kg - ppm) in hulled organic sesame seeds from India used for cheese sticks from the Netherlands, (1.6 mg/kg - ppm) in organic sesame seeds from India, via Germany
  • Notification from: Netherlands, Greece, Denmark, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Malta, Italy, Sweden
  • Risk: Serious

  • Action Taken: Informing consignor
 
2. Alert: Unauthorised novel food ingredient (nicotine) in tobacco-free nicotine pouches from India
  • Notification from: Germany
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - alert - official control on the market
  • Action Taken: Withdrawal from the market
 
3. Alert: Aflatoxins (B1 = 9.5; Tot. = 10.1 µg/kg - ppb) in chilli powder from India
  • Notification from: United Kingdom
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
  • Action Taken: Re-dispatch
  • Action Taken: Withdrawal from the market
 
4. Alert: Unauthorised substance ethylene oxide (0.044 mg/kg - ppm) in sesame seeds from India, via Germany used in frozen organic bread from Belgium & (1.9 mg/kg - ppm) in sesame seeds from India, via Italy

5. Alert: Aflatoxins (B1 = 18.8; Tot. = 19.5 µg/kg - ppb) in chilli powder from India
