In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.

 

The alerts from EU generated during 23 - 29 March 2021 are as under:
 
1. Alert: Toothpaste originated from India is microbiologically contaminated with mesophilic aerobic bacteria, yeast and mould (measured values 10500 cfu/g).
 
In addition, in particular Pseudomonas and aerobic spore-forming organisms were identified, hence there is a risk of contracting infections. The micro-organisms may potentially cause illness in some consumers, particularly those with a weakened immune system.
 
The product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation and the relevant European standard EN 17516.
