In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.
 
The alerts from EU generated during 21 - 27 December 2021 are as under:
 
1. Alert: Portugal has withdrawn Indian origin Child sleeping bag from market to avoid the risk of the baby to slip inside the sleep bag which could cover mouth and nose and cause suffocation
 
Child one size sleeping bag, white and blue, with a picture of 2 bears, with the following dimensions 500 mm / 900 mm / 20 mm. The product does not comply with the requirements of the General Product Safety Directive and the European standard EN 16781.
 
The neck opening is too large in relation to the child height/age. This can increase the risk of the baby to slip inside the sleep bag which could cover mouth and nose and cause suffocation.
