In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.
The alerts from EU generated during 16th - 23rd February 2021 are as under:
1. Alert: Unauthorised substance ethylene oxide, in varying proportions, in frozen bakery products from Germany made with baking mix and organic hulled sesame seeds, in hulled sesame seeds, in white sesame seeds, in sesame seeds, in organic turmeric powder, in ground turmeric, in organic ground ginger, in ginger powder, in okras, from India.
- Notification from: Croatia, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, France, Germany
- Risk: Serious
2. Alert: Withdrawal from the market of bakery and pastry products from Spain, containing sesame seeds, potentially contaminated with ethylene oxide.
3. Alert: Aflatoxins (B1 = 12.77; Tot. = 13.5 µg/kg - ppb) in dried peppers from India.
4. Alert: Salmonella (presence /25g) in food supplement from India.
5. Alert: E 300 - ascorbic acid (620 mg/kg - ppm) unauthorised in frozen yellowfin tuna from India.
