In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.
 
The alerts from EU generated during 14 - 20 December 2021 are as under:
 
1. Alert: Chlorpyrifos and carbendazim found in ground ginger from India
  • Notification from: Denmark
  • Risk: Undecided
  • Notification type: Food - Information notification for follow-up - Official control on the market
  • Action Taken: Withdrawal from the market
  • Date: 20-12-2021

2. Alert: Garam masala from India contaminated with aromatic hydrocarbons (59.7 µg/kg - ppb)
  • Notification from: Ireland
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - Information notification for attention - Official control on the market
  • Action Taken: Withdrawal from recipient(s)
  • Date: 20-12-2021

3. Alert: Ethylene oxide found in chilli pepper and turmeric from India
  • Notification from: France & Germany resp.
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - Alert notification - Company's own check
  • Action Taken: Detained by operator in turmeric’s case
