In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.


The alert from EU generated during 10th – 16th September, 2019 are as under:

Alert: Indian origin Children’s shirts containing azo-dyes releasing the aromatic amine Dichlorbenzidine are withdrawn from market

Children’’s shirts contain azo-dyes releasing the aromatic amine Dichlorbenzidine (measured value: up to 47mg/kg). When in direct and prolonged contact with the skin, this aromatic amine may be absorbed by the skin. This Aromatic amine can cause cancer and is a skin sensitizer which could trigger allergic reactions. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation.

Alert: Indian origin natural hair colour detect excessive amount of aerobic mesophilic bacteria

Natural hair colour contains an excessive amount of aerobic mesophilic bacteria (measured values exceeding 100 cfu/g). If used on damaged skin, or if it comes into contact with the eyes, the product may cause infection or irritation. The product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Alert: Dimethoate (0.047 mg/kg - ppm) and unauthorised substances sulfotep (0.15 mg/kg - ppm) and triazophos (0.25 mg/kg - ppm) in peppers from India
